The GovAssure cyber assessment is a standardised evaluation conducted by government agencies to assess the cyber security posture of organisations that interact with sensitive government data or systems. It helps identify potential vulnerabilities and risks within these organisations’ IT infrastructure and processes, ultimately aiming to enhance overall cybersecurity and protect against cyber threats.

GovAssure is designed for OFFICIAL systems and does not currently apply to systems processing data classified as SECRET or above. Higher classification systems may be considered in the future. GovAssure will apply to government sector Critical National Infrastructure (CNI), bringing them under a common assurance process for cyber.
The GovAssure assessment typically involves a thorough examination of an organisation’s cybersecurity policies, procedures, technical controls and infrastructure. It may include assessments of network security, data encryption practices, access controls, incident response capabilities and employee training programs. The assessment aims to identify weaknesses and recommend improvement to enhance overall cybersecurity resilience.
It is a tailored and flexible approach designed to fit with your business context. Assessment is outcome based and proportionate, using profiles aligned to the risks faced by Government. It provides a simplified experience for your teams with a new web-based interface for assessments that will make workflow and input easier. GovAssure will give a fair and objective assessment through integration of third-party review. It will set clear expectations for organisations through the use of “targeted improvement plans”.
