Rupert is the Commercial Director at C3IA, where he oversees strategic development, commercial and compliance functions. He joined C3IA in 2016 as the Sector Manager for Threat & Risk Management, drawn by recommendations about the company’s people focus and its new status as a NCSC-certified cyber security consultancy.
Prior to joining C3IA, Rupert was a regional senior manager with BT, where he led a team of 300 people delivering ethernet connectivity solutions across southern England. This followed nearly 20 years in the Royal Navy specialising as a communications and electronic warfare officer, which led to his transition into cyber security at C3IA.
He enjoys working in a dynamic, evolving company and focuses on strategic and market analysis and horizon scanning to leverage new technology and emerging opportunities. Notable achievements include supporting the development of C3IA’s NCSC consultancy and as a Cyber Essentials Certification Body, the growth of a security testing service, expert input into the GovAssure scheme’s development, and leading a brand refresh to enhance digital marketing capability.
Rupert is a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute, a Chartered Manager, and an Associate Member of the Institute of Directors, with a Certificate in Company Direction. Keeping up to date on cyber issues, he maintains affiliations to CiiSec and ISACA and volunteers as a director of the Southwest Cyber Security Cluster, promoting cyber security careers and community in the region. Outside of work, he enjoys sailing, cycling and kayaking.
